The Hotel Grande Bretagne, affectionately known as the "Royal Box" and built as a palace in 1862, is located adjacent to the parliament building and 300 kilometres from the Acropolis. The 24-hour front desk has multilingual staff that can assist with offering sightseeing hotspots. Just 300 metres from the hotel sits the ancient Acropolis. Visitors can also explore the "Plaka" or old town with its narrow lanes and interesting shops, which lie 200 metres from the hotel. Eleftherios Venizelos Airport is 27 kilometres from the hotel.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS
A 24-hour express bus service and yellow taxis are available for transfer from the airport to the centre of Athens (Syntagma Square). The recently extended Athens Metro system connects the hotel with the rest of central Athens within 15 minutes. The Metro station closest to the hotel is Syntagma. There is also a wide choice of buses. The hotel can order yellow taxis on request. From the airport Take Attiki Odos & Follow Sign to Katehaki Avenue. Take exit K2E & in elevated roads, take exit 16K which leads to Route for Katehaki Avenue. Route is named Ymitos Ring; follow this road straight until exit Y1 for Kathaki & Mesogeion Avenue. Turn left in Mesogeion and go straight following the signs to Vas. Sofias. Continue ahead towards Syntgma square to reach the hotel.
